EMS Week May 2017 PR

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX – During Commissioners Court on May 23, 2017, Fort Bend County Judge Bob Hebert proclaimed the week of May 21 – May 27, 2017 as Emergency Medical Services Week. Emergency medical services is a vital public service, as access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury.

The emergency medical services system consists of first responders, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, dispatchers, firefighters, police officers, educators, administrators, pre-hospital nurses, emergency nurses, emergency physicians, and others, all with many hours of specialized training ready to provide lifesaving care to those in need 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Judge Bob Hebert said, “Our EMS personnel perform near miraculous work 24-7. Our MICU units and squads can provide stabilization treatment to patients PRIOR to transport. They are truly dedicated medical professionals. I am proud of them.”

JCRP Ribbon Cutting

May 12, 2017

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX – On May 12, 2017, Fort Bend County Commissioners Court celebrated the Official Grand Opening of the Jones Creek Ranch Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.  

Fort Bend County acquired Jones Creek Ranch Park, formerly Gordon Ranch, through generous contributions from The George Foundation, The Henderson-Wessendorff Foundation, and Harrison Interests, Ltd.  Since the time of acquisition, Fort Bend County has updated the park’s existing facilities and utilities and recently completed the addition of a new administration building located in the front of the park to facilitate easy access for citizens interested in park information.  For more information, please visit Jones Creek Ranch Park at www.fortbendcountytx.gov under Departments, County Services.

Judge Bob Hebert said, “This is a beautiful addition to Fort Bend County parks. The financial support of the two foundations and Harrison Interests gave us the park; and our own Parks Department with the help of our Road & Bridge and Facilities Departments, plus the Drainage District, have brought the park to life. Let’s use it!”

Older Americans Month

May 9, 2017

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX – During Commissioners Court on May 9, 2017, Fort Bend County Judge Robert Hebert proclaimed the month of May 2017 as Older Americans Month. Fort Bend County is home to more than 153,000 citizens aged 55 and older who have enriched the community through a lifetime of historical experiences.

Every year thousands of elderly citizens are victims of abuse and neglect. Judge Hebert commended two agencies – Adult Protective Services and Fort Bend Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels and Much, Much More – who recognize that older Americans in Fort Bend County are treasured resources to protect and revere. Their unique wisdom, knowledge and insight is highly regarded; and the contributions they impart on the culture, economy and character of the community are deeply valued.

Citizens are encouraged to help by working to reduce abuse of people who are elderly and disabled, safeguard their rights, and improve their quality of life by increasing their opportunities to remain active and engaged in community life.

Hurricane Preparedness Week 2017

May 5, 2017

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX – On May 5, 2017, Fort Bend County Judge Bob Hebert proclaimed the week of May 7- May 13, 2017 as Hurricane Preparedness Week.   

Hurricane season officially begins June 1st and continues through November 30th. As we enter the 2017 hurricane season, it is critical that everyone in our area becomes more knowledgeable about hurricanes and hurricane preparedness. During this week citizens are encouraged to begin to prepare a family emergency plan.

HHS Emergency Preparedness Program National Recognition

May 2, 2017

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX – During Commissioners Court on May 2, 2017, Fort Bend County Judge Robert Hebert recognized the Fort Bend County Health & Human Services Department for receiving national recognition for their Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program and its ability to plan for, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies.

Fort Bend County’s Health and Human Services Department received this honor by meeting 305  comprehensive preparedness benchmarks required by Project Public Health Ready, a unique partnership between the National Association of County and City Health Officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This recognition confirms that Fort Bend County has a thorough and coordinated emergency response plan in place as well as the staff training required to protect the health of the community during an emergency.

Fort Bend County Judge Bob Hebert said, “Our HHS Department is one of only 34 departments in the nation to receive this recognition, confirming that we are well prepared for any health emergencies”.

Budget Award 2017

May 2, 2017

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX – On May 2, 2017, Fort Bend County Judge Robert Hebert recognized the County’s Director of Finance and Investments, Pamela Gubbels, for receiving the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association. This is the 16th consecutive year the Fort Bend County Budget Office has received this award.

In order to receive this distinguished award, organizations must meet nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines include rating ‘proficient’ in assessing how well the budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.

Judge Robert Hebert said, “Our budget office has to earn this award each year. Like a gunfighter, they are only as good as their last budget. Sixteen consecutive awards is very impressive.”
