FORT BEND COUNTY – On March 4, 2015, Fort Bend County Commissioners Court, along with Fort Bend Seniors celebrated the Ground Breaking of the Bud O’Shieles Community Center renovation and expansion. The project is a collaborative effort by the County, Fort Bend Seniors and community foundations that will include construction of a new 3600 square foot administrative building and the renovation and expansion of the existing Bud O’Shieles Community Center. Fort Bend County Commissioners Court contracts with Fort Bend Seniors, Meals on Wheels & Much, Much More to provide meals to senior citizens in the county that are unable to provide for themselves. The meal service operation is housed in the Bud O’Shieles County building, which will soon include a library, education and activity rooms and a care area for seniors with early signs of dementia. County Judge Bob Hebert said, “The work of Fort Bend Seniors in partnership with the County adds tremendous value to our efforts to perform our common mission of helping seniors in need. The volunteers and staff at FBS earns our respect and admiration each and every day.”
