Facilities Bond Projects

Background Voter Approved Bond Funding

November 14, 2017

There is a critical need in Fort Bend County to expand and improve current facilities within the county in order to continue providing the basic and necessary services to county residents. Many current facilities are suffering from deterioration and a serious lack of adequate space to serve the public.
In May 2006, Fort Bend County voters approved $130 million bond funding to support various facility improvements in Fort Bend County. The projects include the new jail addition that is currently under construction; new facilities for the Gus George Academy for law enforcement training that includes administration and operations for the County Fire Marshal and Emergency Medical Services; two new libraries for Sienna Plantation and the University of Houston campus in Sugar Land; renovations to the George Memorial Library in Richmond; a new Precinct 1 Building to house the Commissioner, Justice of the Peace and Constable, now under construction,  a new Precinct 3 Service Center to house the Commissioner, Justice of the Peace, Constable, as well as satellite offices for the County Clerk and Tax Assessor/Collector; a new Richmond headquarters building for the Tax Assessor/Collector; a Precinct 2 Annex in Missouri City; improvements to the existing Information Technology facilities in Richmond; and a new Road & Bridge Service Center in Needville.
It is our hope that this website will provide valuable information and links to our project updates. Please visit our website regularly for frequent updates!
