Commissioners Court Establishes Burn Ban in Fort Bend County

November 14, 2017

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX – Fort Bend County Commissioners Court voted today for the ban on outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of the County.  Due to the prolonged warm, dry weather conditions, Fort Bend County announces a ban on all open burning; effective Tuesday August 13, 2013. Unusually persistent warm and dry weather conditions and minimal precipitation, have rendered the vegetation in Fort Bend at very high to extreme fire danger levels. Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office is requesting that the public cooperate by adhering to the ban and postponing any outdoor fires until conditions moderate. Conditions will be evaluated periodically, and when considered safer by reveiw of the KBDI (Keetch-Bryan Drought Index), Commissioners Court will consider the repeal of the burn ban.

Please contact the Fort Bend County Fire Marshal’s Office with any questions regarding the burn ban.  (281) 238-1500 or view the website at: www.fortbendcountytx.gov/index.aspx?page=476

Citizens may also contact the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality at 512/239-0028 or 1-800-RELAY-TX (TDD).
