PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release

DEBRIS COLLECTION COMPLETED IN FORT BEND COUNTY

Fort Bend County, TX –  Debris collection as a result of Hurricane Ike in Fort Bend County has been completed. A minimum of three sweeps in all areas was conducted and approximately 700,000 cubic yards were collected throughout the entire county.

The final sweep of debris pickup began on October 27, 2008.  Residents were asked to place all debris on the right-of-way by that date.  County, Road and Bridge along with municipal crews surveyed the county and cities to compile a list of all debris piles to be collected.  Any debris placed within the right-of-way after October 27 was not included in the survey and will have to be removed at the expense of the property owner.

All remaining construction debris placed at the curb, or generated after October 27, from repairs such as roofing, carpet, sheetrock, and fencing should be removed by the contractor.  Any remaining debris should be disposed in the usual manner of the property owner’s waste collection.

Any remaining questions can be directed to Fort Bend County Road & Bridge at 281-342-4513 Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
