FORT BEND COUNTY, TX- Six workshops have been scheduled to inform the public about FEMA’s new development and implementation of the Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) program. The formal process will include an official General Public review. Fort Bend County will organize and host a number of Public meetings to introduce and explain the FEMA adoption process, provide an opportunity for the Public to review the maps, and learn about the county’s interactive web tool that is available.
A representative from the National Flood Insurance Program Region VI office is expected to attend the January 5, 6, and 7 meetings. In addition, handouts will be available at all of the meetings as well as information pertaining to other floodplain related information such as “mandatory flood insurance rules,” or “appeals and protest procedures.”
