FORT BEND COUNTY, TX -Fort Bend County Commissioners Court utilizing $3.5 Million in contributions from the George Foundation, the Henderson-Wessendorff Foundation and Dan Harrison III, has acquired the 113 acre Gordon Ranch Park located off of FM 359 in West Fort bend County for $3.6 Million. Fort Bend Green, a 501 C3 organization whose purpose is to provide a means to facilitate the planning and development of green space in Fort Bend County, coordinated the funding for the purchase in support of county efforts to maintain the National Park Service recommended ratio of park space per 1000 in population. The county plans to lease the park to the Houston Area YMCA, which will provide ongoing management of operations, maintenance and programs at the park. County Judge Bob Hebert stated “ This acquisition preserves a large area of green space for future generations while providing the YMCA with a facility to enhance their youth programs for area children. My thanks to the donors for their contributions and to Fort Bend Green for their efforts to turn an opportunity into a reality.”
