Fort Bend County Fire Marshal to Retire

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX -After 16 years as Fort Bend County Fire Marshal, Vance Cooper will retire December 31, 2012. Mr. Cooper has been with the county for 22 years, and began his career in the fire service 40 years ago.

Mr. Cooper holds a Master’s Certification in Firefighting, Arson Investigation, Fire Inspection as well as Peace Officer.  He has been a valuable asset to the county during a time of rapid growth and has served well with the  mission to protect lives and property in the unincorporated areas of Fort Bend County in accordance with Section 352 of the Local Government Code.  His expertise has been acknowledged with distinguished awards including the Roscoe Gibson Award for excellence in Fire Prevention, awarded by the Texas Fire Marshall’s Association; and the Life Membership Award, given by the Texas Chapter of Arson Investigators.

“Vance has served us well and has provided outstanding service to our community.  We will miss him and wish him well in his upcoming retirement,”  said County Judge Robert Hebert. 

Mr. Cooper is looking forward to his new beginning with plans to spend time with his young grandchildren as well as his hobbies of leather-work and wood-work. 

Friends and Coworkers will hold special recognition of Vance Cooper’s dedication to the county at the Gus George Academy on December 18th at 2pm.  All are welcome.
