FORT BEND COUNTY, TX– Fort Bend County will host a Grand Opening and Dedication Ceremony of the new Justice Center on September 28, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. The event is open to the Public and everyone is encouraged to attend.
The new 265,000 square foot Judicial Complex features cast stone and brick veneer detailing and a standing seam metal roof. A dome structure tops out the four-level atrium on the North Side and a beautiful clock tower highlights the South Side along Williams Way Blvd. The Justice Center includes 17 courtrooms, a jury assembly area, a grand jury area, a Law Library and future expansion provisions for 10 additional courtrooms, which are designed to be phased in over time as judicial needs grow and funding becomes available. The County Clerk, District Clerk and District Attorney currently occupy space in the building. The Lower Level of the building includes holding cell areas for adults and juveniles with a capacity of 112 inmates, expandable to 146. Access to the courtrooms from the Jail and Lower Level is gained through secured entrances that avoid interaction with the public. A parking garage and surface parking surround the building for convenient access for the public.
JE DUNN Construction served as the General Contractor of the facility and the Architect was Pierce Goodwin Alexander & Linville Inc (PGAL). County Offices moved in during the first weekend of July and began serving the public on July 5th.
