Governor Perry extends ban on sale or use of fireworks in Fort Bend County to 7am, July 5, 2011

FORT BEND COUNTY, TX– Texas Governor Rick Perry approved Fort Bend County’s request for an extension of the restrictions contained in the disaster declaration yesterday afternoon.  County Judge Bob Hebert signed the order declaring a local state of disaster for Fort Bend yesterday due to exceptional drought conditions.  The extension approved by Governor Perry prohibits the sale and use of fireworks in Fort Bend County through 7 a.m. on July 5, 2011.

The declaration and order does not apply to municipal or governmental sponsored fireworks displays and does not apply to a privately sponsored display that has been approved in advance by the County Fire Marshal.
