Groundbreaking of the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy

Fort Bend County Officials broke ground at the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy on January 21, 2009.  The goal and mission of the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy is to provide innovative training as the need is identified on a continuing basis.  The building will be a two-story, multi-purpose structure totaling approximately 40,000 square feet.  The space allocated for training includes 4 large classrooms, a computer based training room, a lecture hall (seating capacity 120+), library, physical training rooms, and Academy Administration area.  The building will also have office suites for the following Sheriff’s Office divisions: Human Resources, Community Services, and Internal Affairs/Polygraph lab.  There is also office space on the first floor for the Fort Bend County Fire Marshal and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission staff. The Design Build Contractor is Bass Construction and the Architect is HBL Architects.
