Hurricane Recovery Update in Fort Bend County

Power Outages

Still have over 87,190 customers without power – that approximately 45% of the county.

Fort Bend County Libraries

Will open to the general public beginning Wednesday with the exception of First Colony Branch in Sugar Land, and the Bob Lutts-Fulshear Branch due to power outages and damage.  Remember do NOT place books in the return at First Colony and they will get damaged.

Fort Bend County Precinct 2 Justice and Service Center

The Precinct 2 Annex in Missouri City will not be open for business tomorrow.  Offices at 303 Texas Parkway include Commissioner, Justice of the Peace and Constable as well as Tax Assessor, County Clerk and Social Services.

Point of Distribution Sites

  • Arcola: Arcola City Hall, 13222 Highway 6 South — ice, water, and food.
  • Stafford: Southern Ice Cream Corp., 13755 Greenland Drive — ice, water, and food.
  • Sugar Land: Mercer Stadium, 16403 Lexington Blvd. — water and ice.
  • Missouri City: City Hall, 1522 Texas Parkway — water and ice.

Debris Management Program

First round of pickup were started today by Fort Bend County Road & Bridge and the contractor.  Items for pick up must be stacked at the curb on the street or the front slope of the ditch.  Items must be separated from household garbage.  Vegetation debris such as woody burnable debris such as limbs and shrubbery should be placed at curb and there is no need for bundling or strapping.  Debris placed in plastic bags will NOT be picked up in this program.  The items can be removed from the bags and left on the curb.

Curfews as Reported by the Cities

Curfews are in place at the following times in the following cities. This means that citizens cannot remain or travel upon any public or private property.  The exception is resident movement on his or her own private property or a person who has been invited to that property by the owner.

  • Missouri City – 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until September 21
  • City of Meadows Place – 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. until ended by the City
  • City of Stafford – 12:01 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. until ended by the City

School Closures

  • Needville ISD – will be closed on Wednesday
  • Lamar Consolidated ISD – will be closed on Wednesday
  • Stafford Municipal ISD – will be closed through until further notice
  • Fort Bend ISD – will be closed through Friday
