September 410 2011 Declared National Suicide Prevention Week in Fort Bend County

November 14, 2017

County Judge Bob Hebert presented a proclamation to Fort Bend County Behavioral Health Services, Mental Health America of Fort Bend County  and Texana Center yesterday proclaiming September 4-10, 2011 as National Suicide Prevention Week in Fort Bend County.

The proclamation recognizes suicide as a public health problem and the eleventh leading cause of all deaths in the United States.  It’s the third leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 15 to 24.

Behavioral Health Services, Texana Center and other programs such as the Mental Health Public Defender Program all work collaboratively to make a positive difference in peoples lives. They provide quality programs and support services which are designed to ensure that each person that we help has the necessary information to make decisions about their options and provide the best opportunity for success.  All of these organizations recognize the strong need for increased awareness and education about suicide prevention and believe that education, awareness, and coordination of services can save a person’s life.

If you need to talk or are concerned about someone else, please call  1-800-273-TALK (8255).  If someone is in immediate crisis, dial 911.
