For Immediate Release

Sugar Land Disaster Recovery Center To Close on December 1st

FEMA Release Date: November 17, 2008
Release Number: 1791-260

AUSTIN, Texas — As the FEMA/State Disaster Recovery Center at the Park at Sugar Creek in Sugar Land prepares to close, disaster recovery officials remind everyone that FEMA is always just a phone call or mouse click away.

The Sugar Land center is scheduled to complete its operations at close of business, Monday, Dec. 1. Until then, it remains open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays, at the Park at Sugar Creek 14035 Southwest Freeway, Suite 202, Sugar Land, TX 77478.

“Texans need to know that disaster help is still available even when a center closes or moves to another location,” said State Coordinating Officer Joan Haun. “Follow up on applications or ask questions by calling the FEMA toll-free number or visiting the Web site.”

The FEMA Web site is www.fema.gov. The teleregistration number is 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).

“We urge applicants to follow through with their recovery process,” said Federal Coordinating Officer Sandy Coachman. “While applying is the first step, you still should follow up on your application and continue to update your contact information,” she said.   A listing of recovery centers is available at www.txdps.state.tx.us/dem/pages/dr1791_drc_list.htm.

FEMA coordinates the federal government’s role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
