FORT BEND COUNTY, TX – On November 7th, 2013, Evren Kutlay, Ph.D. visited Fort Bend County Judge Bob Hebert. Dr. Kutlay, a native of Turkey and accomplished classical pianist, performed this week at the University of Texas in Austin, at the University of Houston and will be performing at the Raindrop Turkish House in Houston on November 8th. Dr. Kutlay’s talents arrive in this area in part as a result of the Fort Bend Global Initiative, whose mission is to coordinate global relationships in the areas of economy, education and culture. She is originally from the City of Kahramanmaras and Fort Bend County recently signed a memorandum of understanding establishing friendly relations with her hometown. Judge Hebert said, “Dr. Kutlay is a world renowned expert on the European influence on Turkish music during the Ottoman Empire. I was privileged to meet her during our recent trip to Turkey. I am very pleased that she had this opportunity to exhibit her talent in Houston and I’ve asked her to perform in Fort Bend during her next visit.”
