FORT BEND COUNTY, TX– On June 18, 2013, City of Sugar Land Officials broke ground on the continuation of University Boulevard. This section of University will continue the Boulevard from Ditch H (beside Sam’s Club) up to US 90A.
Construction of University Boulevard is a partnership between the City of Sugar Land and FortBendCounty, and includes federal funding from the Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP). The project includes a bridge across Ditch H and approximately 700 feet of 4 lanes with curb and gutter. This addition to University Boulevard will add to the continuous ‘loop’ from State Hwy 6 in Missouri City, TX to US 90A in Sugar Land, TX; and is part of a long range plan to create what has been referred to as the ‘Burney Loop’. Future phases will continue University Boulevard across the railroad tracks near Constellation Field and up to Burney Road.
